Tor Olav Troim and his former boss John Fredriksen have not spoken since 2014, the Borr Drilling chairman has revealed.
Despite the elapsed time, Troim told Bloomberg there was "nothing unsaid" between the two men.
His comments came after a speech at the Pareto Oil and Offshore Conference in Oslo, where Troim revealed he had never intended to enter the drilling business but the downturn made the investment “irresistible”.
“Don’t ever fall in love with this industry, it’s a horrible industry,” Troim said on Wednesday.
“Watch out guys, if you’re going to hang on until the end, you’re going to lose all your money.”
On the same day as the conference, Troim's partner Celina Midelfart disclosed a $1.5m additional investment in Borr.
Troim left the Fredriksen Group in the summer of 2014 describing the separation as “a bad divorce”.
“All divorces are bad but we started with $300m and ended it with $17bn so it wasn’t too bad,” he said in October of that year.
“We lasted 17 years. That’s better than most marriages.
