Singapore listed Vard holdings has confirmed orders for two expeditions cruiseships from Torstein Hagen's Viking Cruises, a deal it says is worth NOK 5bn ($610m).
A letter of intent for the pair was signed back in April, with the order including two further option vessels.
The ships will be built to a design developed by Vard Design, with the hulls built in Romania. They will be outfitted in Norway and handed over to Viking during the second quarter of 2021 and the second quarter of 2022.
The Fincantieri-controlled Vard said that it did not expect the orders to have any material impact on the earnings per share or the net tangible assets per share of the Company for the current financial year.
Viking is no stranger to the wider Fincantieri group, having ordered 16 ships there since 2012.
