Golar LNG’s commercial manager and head of staff has departed for a new role at Norwegian shipbroker Fearnleys.
Erik Nikolai Stavseth announced on LinkedIn on Sunday that he has been named director of LNG infrastructure and projects at the Oslo-based broking house.
“I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead,” he said.
Stavseth has spent the past seven years at Golar, the LNG floating infrastructure company led by chairman Tor Olav Troim.
He spent the past three years as commercial manager at the New York-listed company, where he had sole responsibility for developing floating storage and regasification unit business, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Among his achievements is directing an FSRU project that involved selling the vessel for $350m, modifying and upgrading it for $23m, and operating and maintaining it for three years.
He also said on LinkedIn that he was responsible for commodities trading that brought in $130m in positive cash flow for Golar.
Stavseth added head of staff to his title in November 2023, managing all onshore personnel.
He also spent four years as commercial manager for Golar Power, a Golar joint venture.
Stavseth also served as a board member at Avenir LNG, a small-scale shipowner, for four years while still working for the Golar companies.
Previously, he spent seven years as an equity analyst at Arctic Securities. He also has previous experience with shipbroking, having spent some time at Lorentzen & Stemoco as a dry cargo analyst.
Stavseth has a master’s degree in biophysics and entrepreneurship from the Norwegian University of Science & Technology.
