Andriaki Shipping, the tanker management firm of the NJ Goulandris shipping family, has appointed Panagiota Chrysanthi as its new chief executive.
Chrysanthi’s appointment is part of a wider trend of women increasingly assuming leadership roles at Greek maritime firms.
She has forged her whole career with Andriaki Shipping, a traditional firm that currently manages four suezmaxes and four LR1 product tankers.
Starting as a cadet in 1996, Chrysanthi steadily rose through the ranks to most recent role as the company’s DPA and QSE manager ashore.
Andriaki Shipping said: “We are confident that her work ethic, decision-making skills and inspiring personality will preserve and promote the values and mission of our company, having the full support of Andriaki family.”
According to her LinkedIn page, Chrysanthi studied maths and engineering at the City University of London after becoming a captain at the Maritime Academy of Greece.
Andriaki Shipping’s previous chief executive was Fotis Dalmyras, who assumed the post in July 2021 to replace Dimitris Korkodilos — a company veteran who had been Andriaki’s CEO since 1995.
Andriaki Shipping is the management arm of the Nicholas J Goulandris (NJ Goulandris) Group.
Established in Greece in 1953, the company has managed more than 100 vessels of various types and sizes.
NJ Goulandris was one of the first Greek owners to turn to newbuildings, placing orders for bulkers and tankers in Japanese yards in the 1950s and 1960s.
In contrast to most of its Greek peers, all Andriaki Shipping’s vessels are flying their home country’s flag.
