Transport Capital, the Singapore-based shipping and aviation investment management and financial advisory firm, has hired New Shore Invest founder and chief executive Hanno Tamminga as its new senior director for Europe.

Tamminga is one of a slew of key hires key hires from across the maritime ecosystem that the Philip Clausius-led company has made in recent years to steer it into fresh sectors while forging a global presence.

Tamminga will be based in Germany and report to Oliver Faak, Transport Capital partner and head of Europe. His responsibilities include identifying and building new business opportunities for the company.

Speaking on the expansion of the team, Faak said: “I am happy that it is Hanno who is joining us. With his complementary skills and experience, he will be a valuable contributor to the further expansion and development of Transport Capital.”

Tamminga, who graduated with a Master of Science in shipping trade & finance at Cass Business School, began his shipping career in 2005 as a capesize chartering broker with Arrow.

He moved across to the shipowning side of the shipping industry in 2008 when he joined Hamburg-based Reederei Nord Group.

More recent roles held by Tamminga include managing director of Oskar Wehr Asia in Singapore, and director of business development at Frachtcontor Capital Partners in Hamburg.

In 2017 Tamminga co-founded New Shore Invest, an online platform seeking to revitalise the KG (limited partnership) model by trading shipping shares digitally using security tokens.

Tamminga’s arrival boosts the Transport Capital team to 26, based at its headquarters in Singapore and across its global office network in Beijing, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Athens, Geneva, and New York.
