Former Frontline Management chief executive Jens Martin Jensen was named to the boards of two New York and Oslo-listed shipowners backed by John Fredriksen.

His appointment as a director at Frontline and Golden Ocean Group came less than a week after he joined Seatankers Management, reprising his former role as a key Fredriksen lieutenant.

TradeWinds reported in January that the executive was poised to join Seatankers, the main private company in the Fredriksen Group. But it remains unclear what title Jensen holds at Seatankers.

Jensen took his seat at the outfit on 1 March. His new title at the company was not revealed in either the Golden Ocean or Frontline announcement, though the Seatankers chief executive seat has been vacant since Tor A Svelland stepped down in August.

Before rejoining the Fredriksen fold, Jensen was chief executive of Athenian Holdings, a company controlled by Greece’s Kyriakou family that owns a fleet of VLCCs.

He started that job in September 2020, after serving as head of shipping at New Fortress Energy and a partner at KKR-backed Pillarstone.

His role at Seatankers marked a return to the Fredriksen Group after Jensen left Frontline Management, the Oslo-based subsidiary of Frontline that employs its executives, in 2014. He spent 11 years at the company, first as commercial director and then as chief executive.

A Dane who is based in the UK, Jensen also previously served as a board member at 2020 Bulkers, a dry bulk shipowner backed by Tor Olav Troim, the former Fredriksen lieutenant turned rival.

As TradeWinds reported, Jensen ended his role at that company in late 2021.
