Matson has tapped Bal Dreyfus to lead its Alaska operations, the company announced Wednesday.

"Adding Bal to this team brings more than 30 years of management experience in all facets of ocean shipping – including his years with SeaLand, the company that established the Alaska history we're building on today," said chief executive Matt Cox.

Dreyfus, whose title will be vice president for Alaska, will take over for Kenny Gill, who resigned for undisclosed reasons. He will be responsible for all operations in the state, including terminal operations, customer service, sales and finances.

Dreyfus joined the company in 1993 after six years at SeaLand. He most recently served as vice president equipment and purchasing and sits on the board of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association.
