The men from the 197-dwt operator support vessel SeamanGuard Ohio (built 1984), including AdvanFort security personnel, were grantedconditional bail on 26 December,

But a judge has now allowed a petition by Tamil Nadu policescrapping the bail.

The court ruled the earlier bail decision was flawed, as the incident poseda challenge to national security.

The crew had been arrested on charges related to an unauthorised purchase ofsubsidised fuel but the vessel was at the centre of a controversy because ofthe presence of a cache of weapons.

AdvanFort, a US-based firm providing armed security to ship operators, hasinsisted on the innocence of the men.

A 2,158-page police charge sheet was reportedly filed with magistrates on30 December.
