The incidents took place between the 22 and 27 November with three of them on the same day.
On 22 November the Panama-flagged 19,920-dwt Chembulk Kings Point (built 2008) was targeted at Dumai Port by an unknown number of attackers during cargo operations.
Reports from AKE Maritime say they successfully stole engine spares before escaping. Nobody was injured during the incident.
A day later an unnamed bulker was targeted at Belawan Anchorage by a single robber who managed to access the forecastle store the ship before escaping. A subsequent search found ships equipment had been stolen.
Less than 24 hours later the crew of the 46,923-dwt Libyan-flagged tanker Cartagena (built 2009) thwarted an attempted boarding at Dumai Anchorage.
Having spotted the approach and raising the alarm, crew engaged the fire pump at the wooden boat resulting in the attack being aborted.
Three days later there were three separate incidents reported in Indonesian waters, but in two of the cases the robbers fled empty handed.
The 107,198-dwt Liberia-flagged tanker Amber Sun (built 2003) was boarded by three armed individuals at Nipah Anchorage.
Another incident saw the 17,100-cbm LPG tanker Clipper Helen boarded via the stern by an unknown number of individuals.
The incident involving the Norwegian-flagged ship took place approximately 13nm north east of Bintan Island in position 1:25N, 104:42E.
Lastly, the 34,038-dwt Indonesain-flagged general cargo vessel Pine 2 (built 2010) was boarded at Tg Priok Anchorage.
Having taken one crew member hostage and gained access to the engine room, the thieves stole engine parts before escaping.
