Nigeria's navy has claimed success in fighting off pirate attacks on a suezmax and an LPG carrier.
It said in a statement it had managed "another major feat" in rescuing the vessels from approaching gunmen, AP reported.
Navy personnel were said to have saved the 22,759-cbm Gaz Providence (built 2010), operated by Nafotmar, on Tuesday, after reacting to a distress call.
The vessel had 21 crew on board when it came under attack off Bonny Island.
And the navy also twice repelled pirates trying to hijack the 158,000-dwt Teekay suezmax Rio Spirit (built 2013) after it loaded petrol at ExxonMobil's Qua Iboe terminal.
The vessel had come under attack despite its navy escort.
On Wednesday it was reported that a Briese Schiffahrts-operated multi-purpose (MPP) vessel was attacked off the coast of Nigeria, with eight crew members kidnapped.
The 6,500-dwt BBC Caribbean (built 2008) was attacked on Sunday.
Pirates abducted seven Russians and one Ukrainian.
