Nigerian pirates have freed four seafarers kidnapped last month from a reefer.
Lithuania’s deputy chancellor Rimantas Vaitkus said the men were released on Friday, according to the ELTA news agency.
They were taken from the 152,884–cbf Solarte (built 1982) off Port Harcourt on 19 October.
The vessel’s owner has said all the men were unharmed.
“They are supervised by doctors. We will return them home once it is possible. The owner of the ship will take care of their journey,” Vaitkus told ELTA.
He did not go into any details of the release or say whether a ransom was paid.
The kidnapped men were the Ukrainian master and first officer, plus two Lithuanian crew.
The ship was carrying frozen fish and is operated by Arctic Shipping of St Petersburg.
