Lloyd’s Register (LR) chief executive Nick Brown has chosen his replacement as head of the UK classification society’s marine business, in addition to other key appointments.
Mark Darley has been named as business director of LR’s marine and offshore division and will be responsible for managing and expanding LR’s classification, certification and verification services.
Darley takes over the leadership of the marine division from Nick Brown who was appointed LR chief executive in January.
Darley is a naval architect who joined LR in 2000 as a surveyor. He has held various operational, business and leadership roles across Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. He was formerly chief operating officer for the marine and offshore business before taking on his new role.
Brown has made two other key appointments in the marine division.
Andy McKeran has been named business director, maritime performance services and Philippa Charlton chief marketing officer.
McKeran’s position has been newly created in a reorganisation of the marine business. Charlton takes over from Elaine Roberts.
“LR recognises that maritime stakeholders must rise to the demands of changing technology and the drive to decarbonise our industry,” Brown said.
“With these three key leadership appointments, combining years of sector and functional knowledge and expertise, we can help our clients address these challenges, working as a trusted advisor and supporting them with the significant investment decisions we must all make in the decade ahead.”
