A blast has damaged a Turkish bulker off Yemen, but the cause is not yet clear.

Reuters reported the 52,000-dwt Ince Inedolu (built 2002) had a hole torn in its side on 10 May as it brought wheat to the port of Saleef, controlled by Houthi rebels.

A Saudi-coalition ship received a call from the master of the Ince Shipping bulker to report an opening in the hull, a coalition spokesman said.

“Coalition forces conducted a survey of the incident and visited the ship and found an explosion from the inside to the outside,” he added.

A coalition vessel later towed the ship to the port of Jizan in Saudi Arabia.

A source told Reuters the vessel was carrying 50,000 tons of Russian wheat.

Ince Shipping has been contacted for comment.

In March, a Bahri VLCC suffered minor damage in a missile attack by Houthis off Yemen.
