No injuries have been reported after a boiler exploded on a bunker tanker in Russia.

The accident occurred on the 1,600-dwt Keila (built 1975), which was refuelling the 527,399-cbf reefer Baltic Pearl (built 1991) in St Petersburg, the TASS news agency reported, citing state marine agency Rosmorrechflot.

A fire followed, but this was extinguished by crew.

The tanker is operated by Bominflot of Estonia, while the reefer is owned by Russia's Baltic Reefers.

An investigation has begun.
