The US Coast Guard (USCG) has airlifted the sick captain from a Singapore-flagged bulker off the southern United States.
The 58-year-old Filipino man was airlifted from the 61,413-dwt Spring Sky (built 2014) on Friday 200 miles northeast of Port Canaveral.
Earlier in the day the USCG had been informed that the master of the vessel was reportedly suffering from severe abdominal pain.
The USCG directed the launch of an Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew and an Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew.
The helicopter crew arrived on scene at about 9:40 am and the unnamed man was then transported ashore for a higher level of medical care.
