Greek authorities have successfully airlifted a seafarer from a Technomar Shipping-owned bulker to shore.

A Super Puma helicopter was deployed by the Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) to medevac a 24-year-old seaman from the 57,368-dwt Friederike (built 2011).

The incident took place yesterday, 65 nautical miles off Rhodes, in the south-east Aegean.

HCG added that the seafarer needed immediate hospitalisation.

According to marinetraffic.com, the vessel is continuing its voyage in eastern Mediterranean waters.

This is the second time that a helicopter has been used to remove a crewman from a Greek ship this week.

As TradeWinds reported on Monday, the US Coast Guard (USCG) airlifted an injured man from the 72,900-dwt Amazon Explorer (built 2002).
