A Golden Ocean-controlled panamax bulker has suffered a cargo hold fire during unloading operations in the Italian port of Civitavecchia.
The fire aboard the 79,600-dwt Golden Eclipse (built 2010) is reported to have broken out on Wednesday, according to local media reports.
The Vigili del Fuoco, Italy’s institutional agency for fire and rescue service, confirmed it had attended the ship in the coastal town northwest of Rome.
The agency said via social media that it had extinguished the flames and was carrying out cooling operations aboard the Hong Kong flagged ship.
The Golden Eclipse is on bareboat charter to Golden Ocean until February 2020 at a full $28,025 per day.
