A Freese Shipping-owned handysize bulker was successfully refloated this weekend after it grounded along the St Lawrence Seaway, the US Coast Guard said.

The 29,975-dwt Pacific Huron (built 2010) ran aground off of Wellesley Island, New York last Wednesday.

Salvors from Donjon-Smit were able to refloat the vessel late Saturday with the aid of tugs from McKeil Marine and Rio Tinto Alcan.

The US Coast Guard said there were no reports of any injuries or pollution.

The Yangzhou Guoyu-built ship is classed by DNV-GL. The vessel's protection and indemnity coverage is provided by UK P&I Club.
