A Vietnamese-owned general cargo vessel has been arrested in Singapore over an unpaid bunker bill, TradeWinds has learnt.

The 10,292-dwt GSM 02 (built 2005) was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning by Singapore law firm Oon & Bazaul.

Latest AIS data says the ship is currently alongside at Berth 6 in Jurong Port in position 01° 30.26'N, 103° 72.26'E.

This is the first ship to be arrested in Singapore in three months since the four-ship tanker fleet of former Singapore bunkering company Vermont UM Bunkering was detained in early April.

Vessel arrests in Singapore are at a multi-year low due to combination of issues not least the pick-up in global economic growth.

Only 33 vessels were arrested in Singapore last year – a five-year low – compared with 57 in 2016, and 114 in 2012, according to data from the Supreme Court of Singapore.
