A Greek bulker has been pulled free by tugs after grounding off Brazil.

The 77,000-dwt Kona Trader (built 2007), managed by Horizon Bulkers of Athens, got stuck in the access channel to Paranagua on 15 March, the Gazeta do Povo reported.

It was carrying 62,000 tons of fertiliser.

Port authority APPA said it had suffered a rudder problem, the report said.

Seven tugs made an initial attempt to refloat it, but this failed.

The next day's high tide saw another bid succeed. The vessel then berthed.

Kona Trader remained moored in Paranagua on Tuesday morning, according to AIS data.

It had been en route from Portland in the US.
