A Diana Shipping panamax bulker has been damaged after grounding in Indonesia.
New York-listed Diana says the 76,400-dwt Melite (built 2004), which is on charter to Unipec Global Commodities, has been “temporarily disrupted” following the incident in Pulau Laut.
The owner says the crew is safe and no pollution has occurred.
“It appears that the vessel has suffered damage to her hull resulting from the grounding,” Diana said.
Diana announced the incident at the same time it reported a second-quarter loss broadly in line with market expectations.
Its red ink in the three months to the end of June ran to $25.3m, taking its loss in the first half of 2017 to $53.2m.
Its loss per share of $0.26 was a penny below Wall Street expectations.
