The Norwegian navy frigate damaged in a collision with a tanker on Thursday has sunk.
Only a small part of the KNM Helge Ingstad was still visible above the water on Tuesday in the Hjeltefjorden region, the navy said.
The National Post cited rear admiral Nils Andreas Stensoenes as saying several of the wires used to stabilise the vessel snapped.
The 134-metre frigate (built 2009) listed heavily following the collision with Tsakos Energy Navigation's 113,000-dwt aframax Sola TS (built 2017).
Stensoenes said the navy still planned to recover the warship.
Sola TS had urged the vessel to turn ahead of the clash.
Helge Ingstad was warned four times about the impending collision, according to a recording of communications cited by the Verdens Gang daily.
Eight people on the frigate suffered minor injuries.
