An Oldendorff Carriers bulker has been refloated in River Plate region, but navigation is still impacted following the grounding.
Two tugs helped the 61,000-dwt Johann Oldendorff (built 2014) refloat this morning at kilometre 342 of the river near San Nicolas, according to shipping agency Nabsa.
The Buenos Aires company reports that the Argentine coastguard has retained navigation restrictions in the area of the grounding to carry out soundings.
Vessels can continue upriver and downriver along a secondary channel, but draught is maxed at 6.9 metres.
TradeWinds reported on Wednesday that the ship grounded in soft mud, with no crew injuries or pollution.
"No damages have been reported so far, but in order to be sure an underwater survey will be carried out as soon as visibility allows," Oldendorff chief operating officer Peter Bagh said today.
The Johann Oldendorff is part of the German operator's owned fleet. The German-flag ship is classed by ClassNK and insured by the UK P&I Club.
