An Oldendorff Carriers vessel has hit a bridge in Japan, cutting off water supplies to 9,000 households.
The Erna Oldendorff (built 2016) made contact with the Oshima bridge on its way to Etajima, Japan, the German owner has confirmed.
In a statement on Monday it apologized for the incident in which nobody was harmed and no pollution was reported.
It is not yet clear what led to the collision, with a Japanese Coast Guard investigation underway.
The incident broke a water pipeline in two and internet usage has also been affected in some areas.
Footage showed damage to a mast structure on the vessel's accommodation block.
The captain has been interviewed by the Japanese coast guard. The vessel is at anchor near Kure.
