The Philippines has warned of an imminent attempt to abduct seafarers in the Sabah region.
It told the ReCAAP piracy information sharing centre that a group of 10 Abu Sayyaf terrorists armed with rifles and a grenade launcher are planning to carry out raids in undisclosed areas.
They will primarily target overseas crew or domestic businessmen.
They are using an unmarked blue and white motor banca locally known as as "jungkong".
"Ship masters and crew are strongly urged to exercise extra vigilance when transiting the waters off eastern Sabah and Sulu-Celebes Seas," ReCAAP said.
