Two oil tankers have collided off Belgium’s Bruges earlier this morning with limited damage caused.

Head of Belgium’s Marine Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC), Rejane Gyssens, told TradeWinds the 73,307-dwt Maistros (built 2009) hit the 50,215-dwt Ridgebury Katherine Z (built 2009) before 7am today.

Maistros was going to anchor at a speed of three knots while the other tanker was anchored.

Gyssens said that, thanks to the low speed, the damaged caused due to the collision was minimal.

There were no injuries or sea pollution reported after the incident.

The Dynacom Tankers-owned Maistros received permission to continue its voyage and was heading to the port of Antwerp.

Ridgebury Katherine Z, owned by Ridgebury Tankers, was still anchored with its classification society and protection-and-indemnity club assessing the situation.
