Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries has announced a new plan to bolster safety following a fatal crane collapse in May.
The scheme will help create a hazard-free working environment by 2018, according to the JoongAng daily.
Samsung is setting up a committee on safety management and will also upgrade the original safety team into an independent division, thereby increasing its authority.
It is looking to recruit a global expert to head this, and expects to make an appointment by September.
The yard has been working with specialist institution Environmental Resources Management (ERM) to address the issue.
ERM will continue consultancy work throughout most of 2018.
Samsung is also developing a system to prevent crane collapses.
This is based on real-time monitoring of their positions. A pilot will be ready in December.
In addition, cameras will be installed on 108 cranes.
The May collapse led to a government order to temporarily halt work at the Geoje yard.
As well as the six deaths, 25 people were injured.
Korean reports said one crane hit another before falling on to a production platform under construction at the yard.
