A supply vessel has collided with the Statfjord A platform in the North Sea while carrying out loading operations on Friday morning.

The incident involving the Skansi Offshore-owned PSV Sjoborg (built 2012) took place at 01:55 Norwegian time.

The vessel, which has 12 crew, is reported to be returning to port under its own power, according to Norwegian state-owned oil firm Equinor.

Personnel airlifted

“Damage to the lifeboat station and the need to clarify the extent of the collision mean that personnel have been moved from Statfjord A to nearby installations,” it said.

Personnel from Statfjord A have been flown by helicopter to Statfjord B and C, and Gullfaks A. In total, 276 people have been evacuated.

The area standby vessel Stril Herkules (built 2008) is at the field and is assisting in the work to clarify the extent of the damage, Equinor added.

The Statfjord A is currently in a scheduled production stop, and there was no production on the platform when the incident occurred.
