A Spliethoff Group heavy lift ship was detained for up to nine days in the UK in December after failing a port state control (PSC) inspection.
Twelve deficiencies were found aboard BigLift Shipping’s 8,734-dwt Tracer (built 1999) by Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) inspectors.
These included an ISM infringement which prompted the detention of the Netherlands-flagged vessel. The ship was released on 20 December 2018.
The Tracer was among four new detentions of foreign flagged vessels in a UK port during December. A further four vessels remained under detention at the end of the month.
The other ships detained were Murmansk Shipping Co’s 23,170-dwt bulker Kuzma Minin (built 1980), Transflot’s 4,554-dwt general cargo vessel Darina (built 2000) and Myklebusthaug Management’s guard vessel Vikingfjord (built 1974).
