Three Chinese naval technicians have died trying to secure a research ship during a storm.
State broadcaster CCTV said the trio worked for the No. 760 Institute in Dalian.
The Haijun website reported that the 2,300-gt Beidiao 993 is used to experiment with sonar and underwater acoustics.
The technicians had gone to the dock to prepare for a typhoon that hit China last weekend.
The victims were named as Huang Qun, the institute's deputy director, project leader Song Yuecai, and electromechanical engineer Jiang Kaibin.
Big waves had loosened the vessel's cables and threw them into the sea.
