Ships transiting the Bab el Mandeb strait in the Red Sea have been warned to be vigilant after a cargoship was approached by suspicious boats.
UK maritime security reporting body UKMTO said it had been informed the incident took place on 1 November.
The unnamed ship was approached by three small vessels with four or five people on board.
The crew and vessel are safe however.
"Vessels transiting this area are advised to exercise caution," UKMTO said.
