A new CMA CGM containership has hit a dock in India as it made a turn.

Video footage shows the 10,100-teu CMA CGM Mumbai (built 2018) ploughing into the side at JNPT in Nhava Sheva on Saturday.

Its bow anchor is dropped seconds before impact.

The vessel, owned by Seaspan, damaged part of the dock, police said.

But Nhava Sheva police senior inspector Chetan Kakde told NDTV the damage was not major.

He said the vessel was trying to make a turn at the time.
