A worker has died and three others have been injured in a fall from scaffolding at Hanjin Heavy Industries Corp (HHIC) in the Philippines.

The department of labour and employment in central Luzon has ordered sub-contractor Binictican I-Tech Corp to halt operations after the accident on Saturday in Subic Bay, according to the Inquirer daily.

Ferdinand Leuterio died due to internal injuries, while Gerry Bayuta, Johnny Alegre and Vailian de la Cruz were treated at a hospital in Subic.

Safety inspectors reported that the “concentrated weight of the workers and raw materials and equipment” might have caused the scaffold to tilt before it crashed.
