Two Romanian yard workers have been seriously injured in Malta when one of them lost control of a forklift.
The incident at Palumbo Malta Shipyard happened on Thursday morning in Paola, Malta Today reported.
The police said a 48-year-old man was driving a forklift when he hit another man.
Both workers, and the vehicle, ended up in the sea.
The two were brought ashore by colleagues and an ambulance took them to hospital.
A police investigation has begun.
Palumbo Malta Shipyards said their condition is being monitored.
“Shipyard officials were immediately on hand to assist the two men and help them get back onto shore,” it added.
The company said one of the men lost control of the vehicle.
“The shipyard abides by the highest international safety standards and the welfare of our employees is always our top priority,” a spokesperson for Palumbo told the newspaper.
