Dimitris Patrikios, an experienced Greek executive who joined V.Ships as an adviser last year, has moved up to head the ship management giant’s growing Greek office.
Best known in the market as a long-standing senior tanker manager at Onassis companies, Patrikios announced the news himself on his LinkedIn page on Tuesday.
“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as managing director Greece and Med Cluster at V.Group,” he wrote.
Patrikios had been general manager for 30 years at Springfield Shipping — the company providing technical management services for the Onassis tanker fleet.
Patrikios then served for two years as chief operating officer at flagship Onassis firm Olympic Shipping and Management.
After leaving Olympic Shipping in December of 2018, Patrikios served in senior positions at Alafouzos firms Kyklades Maritime and Okeanis Eco Holdings, as well as at Anna Angelicoussis-led Alpha Bulkers Shipmanagement.
He joined V.Group in September 2023 with the title of adviser to the managing director.
At the head of V.Ships Greece, Patrikios replaces Costas Kontes, who decided to leave the company after 17 years — the last nine years of which were spent as head of the Greek office.
Kontes had also held the position of V.Ships’ commercial director for Europe since January.
Under Kontes’ leadership, V.Ships’ Greek dependency grew to manage 78 vessels, with several more under crew management.
A large part of these belong to Costamare.
The US-listed container ship and bulker giant said in its latest annual filing that V.Ships Greece was providing technical, crewing, provisioning, bunkering, sale-and-purchase and accounting services to 17 of its container ships and 19 dry bulk vessels.
Athens-based, US-listed Seanergy and spin-off United Maritime have entrusted the company with six large bulkers.
V.Ships Greece is also listed with non-Greek clients, such as financial owner Mount Street Capital, which has placed six container ships with the company.
