A double boxship sale by Germany’s Offen Group is expected to establish a sharp fall in asset values.
Greek owner Evangelos Marinakis was being linked to the 8,845-teu sisterships Santa Laura (built 2006) and Santa Livia (built 2007) in a $29m en bloc swoop.
However, market sources now guide that no transaction was secured and the ships are now thought to be heading elsewhere.
Offen has been seeking to sell the pair, with TradeWinds reporting earlier this month the ships were being touted at $18m each.
Data from VesselsValue priced the units at $44.5m each at the start of 2016.
Today they priced at $16.2m and $19.35m respectively.
A spokesperson for Marinakis-backed Capital declined to comment on the matter when contacted by TradeWinds today.
