Shipbroker Koulis Theodorakakos, co-founder of Bulkers Shipbroking Co, has left the company, taking another four of its employees into a new shipbroking venture with him.
Anchor Shipbroking Inc, the new outfit he founded, has started operations in Piraeus.
Theodorakakos's partners in the venture are Michael Spiliopoulos, Kostas Theodorakakos, John Tsigaridis and Stavros Zaglakas – all formerly at Bulkers Shipbroking.
They are joined by Constantine Tzavelas, former head of the sale & purchase department at Golden Destiny, another Piraeus-based brokerage.
“We will be offering a full range of professional services on all aspects of shipbroking with our focal key areas being Sale & Purchase, Newbuilding & Demolition,” Anchor Shipbroking said in a statement.
The company formally began operations today. Official Greek shipping ministry documents, however, show its lawyers filed for registration as early as in July last year.
Koulis Theodorakakos left Bulkers Shipbroking in “a 100%-consensual manner,” Bulkers Shipbroking's co-founder Antonis Angelides told TradeWinds.
In a note sent to clients earlier today, Bulkers Shipbroking said it “sincerely” thanked Theodorakakos for his contribution “after 36 years of an excellent cooperation”.
The split leaves Bulkers Shipbroking with three brokers – Antonis Angelides, George Angelides and Makis Potamianos.
The company, however, assured clients it would “continue to provide its high-quality services with loyalty and respect”.
Antonis Angelides told TradeWinds the company intends to hire staff.
