Idan Ofer-controlled Eastern Pacific has sold a 1995-built capesize bulker for demolition, sources say.

The 161,000-dwt Cape Hawk is sold to Bangladesh for an undisclosed price, presumed to be in excess of $8m.

The vessel was due for special survey before the end of 2014.

Earlier in December, Eastern Pacific sold two 1990-built capesizes for further trading.

The 151,000-dwt Cape Merlin (built 1994) went for $10.5m and the 171,000-dwt Cape Stork (built 1996) for $15.2m.

The Ofer-led company has the 122,000-dwt bulker Fernie (built 1996) up for sale.

Eastern Pacific has 13 capesizes built between 1993 and 2013 in its fleet.

The sale of Cape Hawk means that at least 24 bulkers of capesize or larger have been sold for recycling this year.
