Shipbroker Peter Anker is resigning as a Clarksons director in the summer, but will stay on in a part-time role.
The company said the executive said he wanted to retire from full-time employment when he turns 62 in July.
He will not be standing for re-election to the board in May.
Chairman Bill Thomas said: "Peter has invested a huge amount of time and energy into the success of RS Platou, and the integration within the Clarksons Group, and on behalf of the entire board I would like to thank him."
Anker was chief executive of RS Platou when it merged with Clarksons in 2014.
He sold a portion of his shares in the shipbroker in 2018, but retained a stake worth £2.93m ($3.8m) at the time in the world’s largest shipbroker at the time.
Clarksons CEO Andi Case said he thanked Anker for "his dedication to the business, providing success for so many of our clients, staff and the business overall."
He added: "I understand completely his desire to retire from the board, and look forward to continuing to work together with him in his changed part-time role over the coming years."
