BRS shipbroker Christopher Talhaug Rasmussen has jumped ship to Clarksons for an emotional return to Norway.

The Norwegian has joined the UK-listed broking giant as a senior broker on the newbuilding desk.

He has been a partner at shipbroker BRS in Geneva since 2019, having joined in 2014 to handle newbuilding business.

Before that, he was a summer intern at RS Platou in Oslo, a shop later taken over by Clarksons.

The new recruit said: “I am thrilled to share that I am starting a new chapter in my career with Clarksons.”

“Moving home to Norway is not just a milestone for me but a significant moment for my family as well,” he added.

“I look forward to delivering exceptional service to Clarksons’ clients worldwide,” Rasmussen said.

He describes himself as an experienced broker with skills not only in ship contracting but also in procurement, negotiation and project management.

“With strong roots and history of shipbroking in my family, it has always been my childhood dream to be a shipbroker and to work in the maritime industry,” Rasmussen said.

“My passion for shipping has taken my career globally. I have worked with top-tier international shipping companies.”

‘A wonderful return’

He has brokered several complex contracts with international buyers in his time with BRS.

Rasmussen also spent time at Japanese owner NYK Line’s Southampton office as an intern while studying shipping in the city.

He was congratulated on LinkedIn by former Sovcomflot chief financial officer Nikolai Kolesnikov.

And AMA Capital Partners managing director and Delta Corp Holdings chairman Peter Shaerf said: “A wonderful return … sending warmest wishes.”

Clarksons has been recruiting across the board to build its teams, having looked at a takeover of Maersk Broker last year, prior to its management buyout.
