UK shipbroker Clarksons has expanded its Gibb Group operation with a domestic takeover.
The London-listed company said it has bought Trauma & Resuscitation Services (Trauma Resus), described as a first-aid innovator.
The price has not been disclosed.
Gibb Group, the broker’s port services unit, is a leading supplier of personal protective equipment to the energy sector.
The deal will expand its coverage of the oil and gas, marine and renewable energy sectors with the inclusion of the Trauma Resus Eurieca programme for first aid in the offshore wind sector.
Trauma Resus operates in the US and UK, providing offshore medics and emergency medical equipment and training.
Clarksons chief executive Andi Case said the takeover “aligns with the wider group strategy of expanding our breadth to meet the ever-increasing needs of our clients”.
“Gibb Group is key to our port services end-to-end service offering, and the addition of Trauma Resus continues the development of our extensive activities in the renewable energy sector,” he added.
The 17-strong Trauma Resus team will continue to work from its offices in New York and Warrington, northwest England, in addition to the Gibb Group warehouse in Rhode Island.
The company’s chief operating officer, Rob Griffiths, said: “We have built a strong relationship with Gibb Group as a strategic partner and reseller and now look forward to being part of the wider Clarksons group.
“The acquisition presents a fantastic opportunity, and we share an ambition to advance the level of innovation, safety and sustainability across sectors. Our combined offering will help us reach a global customer base in a more joined-up and efficient way.”
