Clarksons executive Harriet Oliver has been inspiring young carers and patients to take the next step in their “journey of renewal”.

The UK shipbroker’s human resources group head attended an event in London hosted by charity Renaissance Foundation (RF), which works with young people aged 12 to 18.

The female-focused gathering was held in recognition of International Women’s Day.

Oliver took part in a question-and-answer session about her career.

She joined other women from a variety of industries sharing personal experiences of role models, work highlights and how they overcame challenges.

The group then took part in speed networking sessions, giving everyone an opportunity to ask further questions.

Oliver gave advice on preparing CVs, completing job applications, conduct during interviews and having the confidence to say “yes” to opportunities.

She said: “The young people who attend RF shoulder an undue amount of challenge and responsibility in their own lives, but their drive and ambition is tangible.

“Thank you to RF for inviting me to be part of the panel — the support that you provide and the environment that you have created is making a significant impact on these young people’s lives.”

The charity has a three-stage programme that focuses on strengthening resilience, developing generic job skills and raising aspirations.

Clarksons said it is committed to providing time, energy and resources to charities that it feels passionate about.

The broker wants to lead positive change in a variety of different ways.

“Supporting RF with this and future events enables them to achieve their objectives and provide their young people with new perspectives and motivations to inspire them to reach their goals,” the London-listed company said.
