Shipbroking group Howe Robinson has added another sale-and-purchase broker to its international network, this time in Singapore.
Arnold Leong joins the team after almost nine years working for classification society Bureau Veritas, where he rose to become marine business manager.
Carsten Roennau, Howe Robinson’s managing partner in S&P, said in a LinkedIn update: “With his expertise in newbuilding classification survey and statutory regulation, he has assisted shipowners in their investment and fleet expansion decisions in his last role as business manager in classification, and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will help us better add value to our clients.”
The desk in Singapore comprises three specialised S&P brokers plus several project brokers.
Howe Robinson has 30 dedicated S&P and newbuilding brokers around the world.
Before Bureau Veritas, Leong worked as a project engineer for Singaporean shipbuilding and engineering group Sembcorp Marine, since renamed Seatrium.
The new hire is another step for Howe Robinson in building up its newbuilding business in the Far East.
Earlier this month, it announced it had hired S&P specialist Gu Yoon from Clarksons as managing director of its office in Seoul, South Korea.
The group, which is headquartered in London, has been expanding its broking teams around the world.
Last year, Howe Robinson made new hires across its offices in China, London, Athens and Hamburg.
