Maersk Broker Bulk Chartering is looking to cement its position in the North American market by taking full ownership of dry cargo firm NAODAN Chartering.

Maersk Broker initially bought a stake in the Seattle-based charterer in January 2019, which boosted the company’s presence in the Pacific.

But in an announcement this week, the Danish company said that NAODAN Chartering would “be fully integrated in the global Maersk Broker Bulk Chartering Organization” by the New Year.

Maersk Broker added that the acquisition of NAODAN was aimed at strengthening its position in the US market in general and the North Pacific Region in particular.

NAODAN was founded in 1992 and operates out of Mercer Island with a particular focus on the transport of timber.

It is headed by CEO and founder Dan Valente and has three further employees.
