A shipbroker from Italian broking shop Italia C&A has died in a road accident in Athens during Posidonia week.
A message sent to industry contacts by the Genoa-based brokerage and seen by TradeWinds said: “With great sadness, we all at Italia would like to inform you that our dear friend and colleague working in S&P/project department, Alex Callio, passed away on the 5 of June.”
“Alex is leaving an unfilling void that we are not able to describe.
“Our thoughts go to his family, he will be in our prayers and will remain in our hearts.”
Italia C&A declined to answer questions due to respect for the broker’s family.
Media reports in the Greek press detailed that late on Wednesday, just before 10:30 pm in Voula, an accident occurred when a private car crashed into a motorbike.
The rider of the motorbike is said to have hit a tree and died later in hospital.
