UK broker Simpson Spence Young (SSY) has appointed Jarl Magnus Berge as its global head of finance.
Berge is a finance specialist with more than 14 years of experience.
He formerly worked with LS Finans AS and was a founding partner in Norwegian ship-finance arranger NorthCape.
SSY said Berge will work alongside its existing finance team to further develop its global services in all aspects of structuring, financing and execution of shipping and offshore projects.
“I’m delighted to welcome Jarl Magnus to SSY and I’m confident that his considerable experience in the finance sector will be a great asset for us as we continue to develop and expand our offering,” SSY managing partner Stanko Jekov said.
SSY has finance desks in London, Oslo and New York that offer advice and also arrange and structure all aspects of ship finance, shipping investment, mergers and acquisitions, divestment and restructurings.
It has also developed an extensive global network of institutional investors, banks, specialised funds, family offices and leasing houses.

Berge will take up his new position on 14 August.
