Shipbroking group SSY has hired two more brokers to round out its offshore business within subsea vessels and special projects.
Andreas Hageli and Thomas Kittelsen will join the company in January from Sea1 Offshore, previously known as Siem Offshore.
Hageli was chief commercial officer at the company and Kittelsen was chartering manager.
SSY managing partner Stanko Jekov said the hires would “only further accelerate [the company’s] strategic ambition to become a leading player in this sector”.
“Since launching into the offshore sector last year, we have moved at pace to establish our proposition, attracting many of the most respected brokers to the firm,” he said.
Hageli and Kittelsen will join Martin Hestnes, who has headed up the subsea business since joining SSY in July.
The two will be based at SSY’s Kristiansand office in Norway, while Hestnes will continue to work from Dubai.
Hestnes, SSY’s offshore subsea and projects manager, said: “We are grateful to have secured such extensive expertise within the offshore vessel industry with Andreas and Thomas.
“Their backgrounds will play a crucial role in our growth, and we firmly believe that their experience will matter to our success.”
Before Hageli’s seven-year stint at Sea1, he spent 13 years at Pareto Shipbrokers where he held the position of senior partner.
Kittelsen worked previously for engineering giant TechnipFMC and Norway’s Westshore Shipbrokers, which was acquired by SSY last year.
The hires mark the further expansion of SSY’s offshore division.
SSY entered the market in February last year when it bought the well-known Norwegian shop Westshore Shipbrokers, which added four brokers in Kristiansand and Singapore.
This was followed by the acquisition of German specialist F3O Offshore Services a year ago, which added three brokers in Hamburg and another three in Dubai.
