Kjell Inge Rokke's Aker BioMarine has ordered a new multipurpose transport vessel for its krill operations.

Finnish group Wartsila has been awarded the contract to design the unit for work in Antarctic waters.

The ship will be built at CIMC Raffles in China.

The vessel will be 168 metres long and have a capacity of 20,300 dwt.

It will use a four-stroke Wartsila diesel engine.

The ship will carry supplies and liquids, as well as krill products from harvesting vessels working in the Antarctic.

It should be ready for the 2021 season.
