Belgium's CLdN Cobelfret has scrapped a deal for its remaining ro-ro newbuilding at Croatia’s struggling Uljanik Group.

It tore up a contract for the first 5,500-lane metre vessel in January.

Bankruptcy proceedings were started against the yard last month.

Uljanik said: “Due to the bankruptcy of Uljanik and subsequent inability to deliver the vessel in accordance with stipulations of the shipbuilding contract made and entered by and between Uljanik and CLdN, … the buyer … unilaterally rescinded shipbuilding contract."

The yard has been hit by other cancellations amid worker strikes, but has said it is in talks to complete some of those orders.

It is thought only Scenic Cruises of Australia has not cancelled all its contracts. The yard is building two cruise ships for the company.
