Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has increased earnings in the first three quarters as it continued to win cruiseship orders.

Net profit rose to EUR 233m ($379m), from EUR 185m in 2016.

Revenues rose 10.7% to EUR 3.57bn, while the backlog of 97 vessels is worth more than EUR 25bn.

A total of 14 cruiseships have been ordered this year, including options, it said.

CEO Giuseppe Bono added: “The excellent commercial, managerial and economic results of the first nine months of 2017 further consolidate Fincantieri’s leadership and allow us to confirm, to date, the expected results for 2017, in line with the business plan."
